Mimi is a Sunshine coast fitness entrepreneur, originally from Munich where she studied sport science, she finds fulfilment in teaching sport and spreading the joy of movement. With more than 10 years experience as a personal trainer, she has spent the best part of those years broadening her repertoire in the fitness industry.
Delivering the message of connection through movement with the self, there was a deep lying urge for a more profound practice, whereby she discovered Yoga for herself in 2011.
In 2015 she travelled to Indonesia for her Teacher Training and was taught by Guru Made in Bali. This journey made her Yoga practice shift from an “Asana practice” to a “Yoga as a lifestyle” one, which she has never looked back from.
In 2016 she moved to Australia for the beach lifestyle and to expand her learning in another cultural setting. She kept following her passion working as a Personal Trainer, Yoga and Pilates Teacher and set up her own Yoga Retreat company “Feelgood Junkies”, which hosts Yoga events in Bali, Australia, Germany and Spain among other countries.
In 2018 Mimi was fortunate enough to be picked up by lululemon as an ambassador, while teaching on the Sunshine coast and further on opening her very own Studio INTRAFlow.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mimi whilst diving deep into tantra inspired body poetry yoga, 150 hours teacher training with our beloved goddess guide Lara Zilibowitz.
Mimi’s own yoga practice is a sight to behold, her grace & strength truly shine in her powerful poses, she is one strong warrioress with the gentlest of hearts. Her energy is so bright & effervescent & that is why she truly is the Warrioress of sunshine.
1) Motivations: What makes you strive & thrive? What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Life!...as simple as that.
One part I love about my life is that every day looks a little different. So every morning I wake up with excitement to see what the day holds for me.
I love my work and look forward to spent the day at my Studio, surrounded by people that are so close to my heart.
I’m a sensitive and sensual person who loves to experience life in all flavours. So on some days it also can be just the joyful anticipation of my coffee in the morning haha!
2) Inspirations: What / who / where inspires you? What influences your actions/life?
I don’t have ONE big inspiration but draw from many different people and things, like from a warrioress like you Leigh!
I adore my parents & their believes and morals, they always play an influence in my decisions.
Another HUGE inspiration in my life, is the people I work with, my PT clients and my Yoga Students. The way they show up for themselves every day, the way they put in the work every day, to see how they grow and evolve, that’s my biggest inspiration and makes me wanting to work on myself to be the best version of myself every day!
3) Self care: What rituals / routines / practices / training do you use to nurture / strengthen your self?
It took me a few years to learn this but I prioritise some me- time. And that has many different faces. It can be just time spent outside in nature, spending time on the yoga mat, getting a sweaty workout done, or getting pampered with a massage. But it has to be some conscious time I took out of the day to spent with me.
I understood that “only from a full cup you can pour” is just not a cheesy saying but it is actually fact, and I fill my cup with some well spent alone time and moving my body.
4) Self belief: What do you believe about yourself? How does that affect what you do?
This is an interesting question, something I think about a lot and I’m not sure if I have any final answers, but I feel like spreading the love I feel for a yoga and what it does with the body is my purpose.
Speaking and teaching in front of a group, isn’t something that came naturally to me, I can find it quite challenging and confronting, however I feel that life keeps pulling me in this position regardless, by offering opportunities and possibilities. And as a life affirming person, I follow these paths.
And the love, reward, and energy I receive from my work is so endlessly fulfilling and affirming, that it simply feel like this what I meant to do, regardless self-doubts or struggles that pop up every here and now.
5) Warrioress: your favourite style from the range & why?
I’m in love with my recycled funky leopard flare legging, the flare cut is playful and adorable and I feel cute when I wear them and it complements the dance of breath and body during my yoga practice so perfectly.
Meet this beautifully sunny soul here…
