Teresa Boni Plaza - Warrioress of Voice & Expression...
Teresa is the super talented songstress warrioress who not only has the voice of an angel when in her genius zone of singing but she also possesses the strength of a warrior. She is living on purpose, using her powerful voice to create real & positive change in the world having studied in human rights law & now embarking on her PhD journey specialising in violence against women. Aho sister.
Teresa was brought up in a big musical family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her mother is also a famous musician & has been a huge inspiration to Teresa growing up around creative sound & the rhythm of latino land. I have had the honour of listening to her sing on a few occasions & to hear her voice is a truly spiritual experience as she sings from her soul.
Teresa is a seeker of experience & knowledge, when she is not studying (which seems the be most of the time) she also loves movement & running & she's fast, a 4min km kinda gal! & she enjoys camping & deeply connecting with the nature of the mountains, singing with the trees.
Here Teresa shares her own Warrioress wisdom & I wish upon Teresa the greatest gifts as she forges her path to fight for & protect the rights of Warrioresses in this world. & huge thanks for her support of the Warrioress brand.
1) Motivations: What makes you strive & thrive? What gets you out of bed in the morning?
What I strive for in life: Courage, compassion, empathy, love, humility.
The hard lessons I have learned from pain helped shape me into a better person.
I have learned about the capacity of my thoughts and how powerful the mind is.
Developing mindfulness is the way to thrive as a human being. To have a sense of purpose & feel connected with others, and feel safe and supported by the people I love, is to reach success in life.
All of us play a key role.
Uff, thrive. Big word: It's a mix of different things, and it is unlike & specific for each one.
My way to thrive is to be through music and movement.
I found my purpose travelling: In addition to meeting new people, I believe that mixing with different humans is what opens your mind and raises your heart to new learning & feeling experiences.
I love being in a community, but travelling has also this secret ingredient to thrive yourself: your own company. Being alone teaches you to be kind to yourself.
In addition, that’s the way to bloom and shine: to love you.
Apart from a strong cappuccino and music of course, what gets me out of bed in the mornings is the sense of purpose: to be a better version of myself. But I always try to bear in mind, that is OK to have a bad day: it constitutes a powerful emotion that can help you to adapt, accept, focus and grow.
2) Inspirations: What / who / where inspires you? What influences your actions/life?
I grew up in a big family, with a loving mother, a father whom I will always admire, a brother and seven sisters. My mother is the example of eternal love, where there is always room for someone else, and from her, I have learned that family and friends are our refuges. I believe in all the powerful women, who have been loud and brave, and there are so many that this page would not be big enough to name them. How many amazing women there are out there with challenges that confound us and achievements that inspire us. That’s why I am encouraged by women who have had the spirit to change their lives and others. I believe in my mother, for her eternal patience and boundless love for raising me, and for providing me with all the resources that have made me who I am today.
I love this quote: "Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them."
3) Self care: What rituals / routines / practices / training do you use to nurture / strengthen your self?
Running and singing of course. Both at the same time are the perfect routine for a perfect day.
I wake up around 6 am for my daily meditation routine, which helps me to change my breath and my mindset.
On early and fresh mornings, when the world is still sleeping and everything around is quiet, just nature being itself. That moment is priceless.
A balanced diet, not harming animals, makes me feel balanced with nature as well.
4) Self-belief: What do you believe about yourself? How does that affect what you do?
After travelling for so long, I think my strength is my flexibility to handle change.
I am very curious about my abilities, so I like to challenge myself to see what I am capable of.
Resilience has taught me to remain aware: I welcome forgiveness and joy in my life. Makes me feel alive.
I overthink too much so I believe my biggest challenge is to learn to be balanced. Don't demand too much of myself. Applies to life, music and sports.
5) Warrioress: your favourite style from the range & why?
I love the entire collection, but especially the fact that they are handmade and according to my body shape: makes each garment feel like you are wearing your own skin. I love especially the Recycled Mountain Sunset, my first warrioress legging! (Pictured below, running along a beach in Spain in that Warrioress style.)
